The growth of satellite TV has revolutionised the world of mass communication by creating immense career opportunities. Sectors like the print media, radio and cinema are witnessing rapid expansion. The industry requires specialists proficient in multiple skills. The need of the hour is to introduce courses based on industry demands. Besides AJK MCRC, other constituents of the JMI are constantly making efforts towards the same. Last year JMI’s department of Hindi launched a one-year part time TV Journalism course, which has been well received.
Qualities required Besides the obvious communication skills, awareness is the most crucial quality needed. Unless one is aware about society, culture, politics, economics and literature, it will be difficult to recreate the gravity of the subject one is trying to communicate. Thus, it is advisable to have interest and knowledge in a wide range of subjects. The ability to adapt to latest technologies is also crucial.
